Important changes have been made to
the Commonwealth Bank Protected Portfolio Loan (PPL)
Product Disclosure Statement (PDS) which we would
like to make you aware of.
1. Supplementary PDS (SPDS)
On 13 May 2008 the Government
announced in the 2008-09 Budget that it proposes to
make a change to the capital protected borrowing
rules (which are relevant to the amount of PPL
interest that an investor can deduct in a particular
income year). The announcement indicates that the
change to the rules will apply to PPLs entered into
after 7.30 pm (AEST) on 13 May 2008.
Commonwealth Bank has obtained an updated Taxation
Opinion from Greenwoods & Freehills which discusses
how the Budget announcement potentially affects
investors of the PPL. The updated Taxation
Opinion is included in the
Supplementary PDS, and for ease of
reference, the text relating to the Budget
announcement has been underlined.
You should read the updated Taxation
Opinion carefully and seek independent taxation
advice when determining the effect of the
announcement on a potential investment in the PPL.
New PPL application forms need to be accompanied by
a signed SPDS.
2. Anti-Money
Laundering documentation (AML)
Commonwealth Bank is required to
collect additional information from investors to
comply with the Anti-Money Laundering and
Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006.
In the event you are considering a PPL investment and
are not an existing customer of
Commonwealth Bank, please ensure the AML
paperwork above is completed and accompanied with the PPL
application form. |
